From humble beginning to worldwide leader in single-phase to three-phase conversion.

A Beginning of new ERA
Kay Industries was the first phase converter company. Initially branded as Buffington-Payne.
Merge with Phasemaster®
Buffington-Payne rebranded as Phasemaster®. Also, automatic controls introduced.
Independent agency approval
CSA and NRTL are independent agencies that test and certify products to ensure they meet safety standards. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recognizes both CSA and NRTLs.
Extend Warranties
The first 3 phase converter company to offer extended warranties.
Ai, Digital, Drives, and More
Our R&D team has partnered with NAPCES and PhazPak Technologies to develop the next major advancements in 3 Phase Conversion via static, rotary, and electronic using Ai and IOT technology.
Turbulance
Our History
It has not always been sunshine and rainbows.
Recession 2007-2009
For the first time in our company’s history business stood still. Fortunately, leadership from Mr. Katz and Mr. Schoff allowed the company to survive.
Baldor Opens The Door
Prior to Baldor introducing a 3-phase motor, you needed to know how to converter a single phase motor into one. This removed the barrier to entry. One of our moats.
Covid-19 Impact Business
We were blessed with a PPP Loan to cover labor-cost. Yet, sells were at below minimum. Here is a study on the impact the pandemic had on American businesses.
Online Competition
We got complacent. We did too little online marketing. Our control panel building competitors, (remember they do not know how to converter 1-PH motors into 3-PH motors, thanks Baldor), have taken over the internet with misinformation. For example, in their world a 10 HP converter starts 5 HP. In Phasemaster® land a 10HP converter starts a 10HP motor, and runs a max of 20HP.
