Welcome to Kay Industries. It is no secret that a company over 50 years old will undergo transition. Some times for the better, others not so much. These words could not be more true than at Kay Industries.

Regardless, of the company’s position one fact has always been true. We are three phase rotary converter experts, and we strive to exceed the expectations of all our stakeholders, even though at times we disappoint. We recently experienced such times.

In 2022, Kay Industries a third generation company, came very near to permanently closing its doors. Kay Industries faced intense pressure from slowed cash-flow due to the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as, a lowered barrier to entry from domestic and foreign competitors.

To further compound matters several financial and legal battles ensued, (including two claw back bankruptcies, they should be illegal). In addition, many of our long time vendors began applying pressure, as they too had been facing trouble of their own. Shipping promise dates where missed multiple times, employee morale was at an all time low, and costs of goods were raising faster than product demand.

Believing the company Phasemaster® brand had online value, Rob Rohena, owner of several other turnaround businesses, including of Monkeyhouse Marketing approached Kay Industries ownership and leadership team in regards to buying the brand in exchange for online marketing services.

Fast forward to October of 2024. “This is a great day for Kay Industries,” said the newly appointed CEO, Mr. Rob Rohena. “With the support of our new backers, we have a comprehensive and long-term investment plan – including a commitment of resolve all debt, including acquisition cost by 2029. In addition, we have secured small new lines of funding to help when cash is stagnant – this will help to reinvigorate the legendary phase converter brand while keeping the best of its history. Kay Industries has a tremendous future, and I cannot wait to get started on our plan with all stakeholders across the USA, Canada, and South America.

He added, “I want to thank Lawrence Katz and Gregory Shroff for their stewardship, and look forward to welcoming them at our plants, or office anytime they are around.”

Under Mr. Rohena’s leadership, Kay Industries will continue to operate as a privately held company, with over 250 distributor locations across 50 U.S. states, four Canadian Provinces, and South America. Plus, several powerful online selling platforms and stategic alliances with a few competitors.

The new CEO was sure to not take all the credit. ” I’m humbled and incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received from our team members, our landlords, surviving vendors, and loyal customers throughout this process.”

Mr. Rohena also thanked Barnes & Thornsburg, for their help during a very difficult time.

Mr. Katz added, “I’m proud of what Kay Industries has been able to achieved during this restructuring – without having to formally go through the embarrassment of a Chapter 11 process. I’m looking forward to cheering on Kay Industries as an ardent fan in the years ahead.”
