10 reasons why people choose Kay Industries Phase Converters

by Oct 9, 2024Manufacturing, Materials, Technology1 comment

If you have been in the phase converter industry for any length of time, you have most likely heard of Larry Katz. A mad genius electrical engineer who took over Kay Industries from his late father Aaron and late elder brother Stephen in 1972. Then, pioneered more modification to the product and its brands in a ten year span than had been seen in the industry in its entire existence.

Larry’s command of the English language runs in parallel with his knowledge of how AC motors and 3 phase power distribution work. One of his most famous statements is:

“Every phase converter can do the job if sized correctly, and if suited properly with the application.” This is why people buy from us.

Contrary to common belief, 3ph phase converts are not difficult to install or manufacturer, especially when dealing with simple, single speed motors. However, they are easy to built incorrectly as a DIY project, suffer from wire misconfiguration, under perform due to incorrect sizing, and blow breakers and fuses in the hands if a weekend warrior electrician.
Here are 10 reasons to select Kay Industries phase converters for your 3ph equipment, facility, or project.

1) Application Knowledge
2) Manufacturing Experience
3) Quality of Materials
4) Sizing Expertise
5) Industry Leading Service
6) Impeccable Warranty

Aaron and Steven Katz ( Larry’s father and younger brother)took control of Kay Industries in 1971. Upon their passing about 30 years later, Larry, an employee until then, inherited the business. I joined the company in 1990 as Plant Manager and knew them all very well. At the time I joined the company annual sales amounted to less than 700k. In the ensuing 13 years that number increased to about 1.2M as the result of many manufacturing improvements and innovations. Larry did a fine job, and I am proud to say that I was there, and I saw it happen.
